Why Isn’t My Vacuum Sealer Removing Air? (Troubleshooting Guide)

If your vacuum sealer isn’t sucking air out of the bags properly, here’s how to diagnose the issue step by step:

1. Check the Bag

• Wrong bag type: Only use textured vacuum-sealer bags (the ridges allow air flow). Smooth or regular plastic bags won’t work.

• Placement: Ensure the bag’s opening is fully inside the vacuum channel and properly aligned with the sealing strip.

2. Inspect the Sealing Strip & Gasket

• Dirt/debris: Clean the sealing strip with a soft cloth (food residue or grease can cause leaks).

• Damage: If the strip is cracked or warped, it needs replacement.

• Silicon gasket: Some models have a small gasket in the vacuum channel—make sure it’s intact and correctly seated.

3. Test the Vacuum Pump & Hose

• Listen: When turned on, you should hear the pump working. If it’s silent or weak, there may be a blockage or motor issue.

• Hose check: (For advanced users) Unplug the machine and inspect the internal hose for kinks, clogs, or disconnections.

• Pump failure: If the motor runs but no suction occurs, the pump may need professional repair.

4. Review Settings & Mode
